Never be afraid to try something new, to ask for help if you needed it, and to view challenges as opportunities to learn and grow.
Umi Nursahira – Enterpryze’s Content Intern has always had a creative streak.
During her 5 months with Enterpryze; she has always gone above and beyond with generating engaging ideas for social media and bringing her same enthusiasm to writing informative articles for our blog.
We caught up with Umi to reflect on her time with the Enterpryze family.
1. What’s your dream career?
To be honest, I had always wanted to open my own coffee shop. To put it in other words, I desired to be in charge (the boss lady). 😂
My dream job would be everything if I one day own a coffee shop. I wanted to be an interior designer, a barista, a chef, a content writer/creator, a marketer, a salesperson, and many other professions!
But, before I get to that point, I’d like to work as a content writer. I didn’t realise how I got to where I am today until I started working as a student intern for Enterpryze.
Thank you for opening my eyes, and I look forward to writing more creative, challenging pieces that can help and inspire others.
2. What drew you to applying for Enterpryze?
At first, I noticed that the name “Enterpryze” was unique and caught my attention. That’s when I began looking into what Enterpryze has to offer, as well as the job description.
Because it is a multinational company, I am very interested in seeing their working culture myself, and I am aware that it is a fast-paced organisation.
I decided to apply for a position as a Content Writer Intern and went through several interviews before being accepted. 😊
3. What was the interview process like? Can you walk me through each step of the way?
The interview processes were very straightforward. I had 2 interviews. One with Cody Yow (HR Manager) and second interview with Jessica Lew (Marketing Manager).
My first interview was primarily focused on me explaining my background and why I applied for the job. Cody explained what Enterpryze is all about, and she asked to see my writing samples before I was accepted for the next interview. It was a pleasant and informative interview.
After that, the second meeting with Jessica was very interesting because she explained everything I needed to know about the company and what my responsibilities would be once I was accepted.
It was a very smooth interview, and Jessica also told me about the company’s working culture and how they deal with working from home during a lockdown.
4. What was your position at Enterpryze? On your very first day – what were your feelings about Enterpryze and its people?
Position: Content Writer Intern
During my first day of work, I was feeling quite nervous.
But, over time, I began to feel more at ease, and the people around me, especially the Marketing Team members and my intern friends, were extremely supportive. ❤
5. What is your average workday as an intern at Enterpryze? Can you walk me through each of your duties throughout your time at Enterpryze?
My first task was to write a blog. 📝
I was guided with so much patience by Jesslyn, the Enterpryze content writer, on what to do and what not to do to stay in line with Enterpryze’s format.
Not only that, I contributed some ideas for the social media organic post content planning and publishing (for Enterpryze’s and mCollect POS socmed) with guidance from Tan, our Digital & Social Media Executive. 😊
I also assisted the other Marketing Team members as much as possible whenever they require help.
6. What was the highlight of your time at Enterpryze?
The highlight of my internship was the time when I had to go back home from the office multiple times due to my health condition. 😷
Also, it reminded me to always take care of myself and avoid large crowds during this pandemic season. ✨
The highlight of my time with Enterpryze came to a close when I went to my farewell lunch with the Marketing Team members, Jessica, Jesslyn, and Zoey (missing Tan and Lissa, who couldn’t make it 😔).
However, I had a great time eating, laughing, and chatting about our favourite Netflix shows, Inventing Anna, Tinder Swindler, Call Me By Your Name, Kingdom, K-dramas, horror movies, and more! 😍😆
7. Do you love working from home or in the office? What do you like about it?
Hmm this is a tough decision for me.
Every working environment has pluses and minuses.
Working from the office allows me to interact with my co-workers, getting to know each other while also allowing me to focus more effectively.
The only stressful part is deciding what to eat during lunch hour. 😂
In the meantime, I also enjoy working from home. I don’t have to think of what I’ll wear to work.
However, it is very challenging for me to focus at home because there is so much distraction. One of it is the internet connection issue.
Overall, I like the work-life balance that Enterpryze provides, which is difficult to find at other companies. 🥰
8. When do you have the most fun at work?
The most enjoyable moments for me were when there’s any celebrations a.k.a free food! 😍
Another memorable occasion happened during the Christmas season, when we exchanged gifts and decorated our office in a festive theme. 🎅🎄
9. Tell us something that your colleagues may not have known about you.
I will always, without fail, start my day by listening to Hindi songs on Spotify.
However, fun fact; I’m a forever and always an Arctic Monkeys fan.
Can’t wait for them to drop their new album this year!
10. What is your advice to the next intern at Enterpryze?
My advice to the next intern at Enterpryze would be to never be afraid to try something new, to ask for help if you needed it, and to view challenges as opportunities to learn and grow. 😊
11. When you’re not at work, what are your passions?
Long walks, hiking, and jogging would be some of my favourite outdoor activities. 🏃♀️🌳
Aside from that, I’ve developed a new obsession with making my own jewellery out of polymer clay and beads! 💍✨
12. If we had an unlimited budget, what would you want us to buy for the office?
I’d like to have a relax & chill corner where we could take a break from sitting in front of a computer for too long. 😊🙌
13. If you ran the world, what’s one thing you’d change?
If I have the power to rule the entire world, I will make sure that there will be only one world and one currency.
Therefore, no one will be able to manipulate the currency.
Plus, you won’t need to visit a money changer to exchange currency when travelling to another country. 😁
